The Daya Foundation proudly hosted a vibrant book launch for Newah Living Rituals and Culture Through the Eyes of Youth, featuring insightful speeches, live performances, and a tour of the historic Daya Chhen. With esteemed guests including Deputy Mayor Sunita Dongol and the Norwegian Ambassador, the event celebrated cultural heritage and community engagement, culminating in delicious Newari refreshments. Media coverage further highlighted this significant occasion.

On a vibrant day filled with cultural enthusiasm, the Daya Foundation hosted a remarkable book launch program featuring Newah Living Rituals and Culture Through the Eyes of Youth. The event, held at the historic Daya Chhen, was honored by the presence of our esteemed Chief Guest, Deputy Mayor Sunita Dongol, who delivered an insightful and inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of cultural initiatives within our community.

We were also privileged to have H.E. Toruń Dramdal, the Norwegian Ambassador, grace the occasion alongside several diplomats from Italy, New Zealand, and Belgium. The turnout was heartening, with participation from culture enthusiasts, dignitaries, organization heads, representatives from the National Art Council, Nagarik Awaaz, RC Kathmandu Mid-Town, The Art of Living, Tewa, and many DF-supported government schools. Senior officials from municipalities and popular artists also joined in the celebrations, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

The audience of 110 participants was treated to an array of performances showcasing the rich tapestry of Nepali culture. The Annapurna Chamber Orchestra enchanted us with a performance led by talented youth violinists, while the Shree Bhairabh Band from Ta:Nani entertained us with traditional Dhime and other Newari instruments. Fusion guitarist Anil Shahi and vocalist Salina Pradhan Shahi captivated the crowd with classical Newari and Nepali music, highlighting the diversity of our cultural heritage.

As part of the event, attendees enjoyed a guided tour of the ancestral Daya Chhen, a 200-year-old heritage site dedicated to cultural preservation. The program concluded with delicious refreshments, featuring samay bajee and a bento box from Bhamcha Bhutu, allowing everyone to savor authentic Newari flavors.
